Hello Christine, very helpful post. Which Leroy Merlin was so supportive?

Is it for cooling and heating or only for cooling. Have you meanwhile an overview about the power costs in summer,

I am facing the exact same challenge.

Kindest Regards

Joachim

I can't really be very helpful about running costs as each user will differ greatly. My house is all electric .and my bills are high  anyway. I am retired and fully resident.,and frankly don't pay too much mind to the costs  because the remedy is in your own hands. Either use it - or not. Try to be sensible. not wasteful. I find new, modern units much more economical to run than old clapped out ones. If I could afford solar power I would install that. Until the Government or Installers make free arrangements with customers i.e. give me free electricity in exchange for them taking any excess generated by me, I will have to pay the demands of Iberdrola. About €150 -€200 each bill. Yes, modern units are heating and cooling. The Leroy branch I used was Cartagena Parque Mediterraneo.

Costs to run are obviously dependent on how much usage - in the awful sweat box that was last summer we were running ours virtually 24/7, but sensibly - set the bedroom at around 28C and don't try to live in a fridge!

Monthly power costs were similar to when heating in a bad winter - around 100 a month....

...

That's good to know👍😊

Denise.
