Hi folks,

I’m wondering if a device exists that floats on the surface of the pool to trap bits of debris and dead bugs…..I’m not looking for a solar floating cleaner, something much smaller (size of a small plate for example) that can be put in and removed easily…

thanks for any information you may have.

I don't think such a device exists, however, what you describe is what your skimmers should do - when the pool pump is running, debris is gently moved towards the skimmers, passes through the flaps or 'weir' and into the skimmer basket, which you should empty regularly. The flaps or 'weir' stop debris returning when the pump is not running.

In addition, you use your net & pole to remove debris from the surface when you first remove your cover.

Maybe you could invent what you suggest?

Hmmmm RichT, the skimmer, filter, net and pole all do as you describe…..but it’s something to do the jobs of the skimmer and net when not on and not being used that I’m after…

Maybe nothing for it but to invent it……something to mull over when relaxing by said pool 😎

Why has your pool „bits of debris and dead bugs…”?

Are plans around the pool or nearby i.e. from the neighbors?

The leaves are braking down due to the chemicals and the bugs love them.

I cover my pool daily after the last dip overnight. Sometimes there is a leave and I pick it up.

During the day I see some flying insects drinking - they don’t bother me.

Once a week I clean the cover with my Kärcher of birds dropping and sand

I do not have plans close to the pool.

The length of my pool is close to the wall with my neighbor – as decoration I put up some “flying birds” to the wall as decoration and also to get a message to any flying objects: We are already here.
