Hi, anyone know why yellow flags have been hung from almost all of the lighting poles in Santiago?

It must be a usual occurrence because there was evidence of flags having been hung before but I guess the winds destroyed them over a period of time.

It’s Constitution Day (Murcia’s Independance day granted 1974) on 6th December, but 7th taken in lieu as its a Sunday. Some shops open, some closed - I suppose it’s up to them if they want a day off. No celebrations this year for reasons we all know.

3/12 is also the feast of Saint Francis Xavier...the saint of San Javier...as well as 6/12 Constitution Day when Spain signed the constitution in 1978

Thanks Ginger. And do the flags get taken down afterwards or do they remain as long as they can as a reminder of independence?

Hello Jenny, yes, we are to your right. All of the developers houses have now been completed. We have only seen a couple of arrivals back in August and to our right the house is owned by a very nice Belgian couple. They are like you and have no chance of getting out here for a while seeing as Belgium has banned travel out of their country.

Lets hope we can meet up soon; this virus (and Brexit) is causing havoc everywhere.

cheers

Ray
