There appears to be additional paperwork when arriving in Spain. Has anyone experienced the requirement to produce evidence of ownership before entry? Having previously let out the property to friends pre Brexit I have concerns without the correct documents they will be unable to pass through passport control.

Why would passport control be concerned as to where people are staying they will just check their passports and stamp them as long as they don’t stay over 90 da
Technically, the Spanish Border Control can require you to provide evidence of the accommodation that you are staying in (hotel, rental property, etc.) and that you have and/or have the funds for a return ticket; and if you are staying with friends, then a letter of invitation.
However, I have never known or read about anyone being asked to produce this.
Hope this helps!

I understood that to be the new ruling but was really interested if a situation had risen for anyone when documents had been requested.
Many thanks for your reply.
I also knew about it but have never seen or heard of it ever being requested.
I did try to find some official guidance but could not find any for you.

I've seen the official wording on the official Spanish for entering Spain....covid... vaccination requirements etc etc which did include the letting paperwork requirements. Really needed to ascertain if the rules had been tested.
I don't think they are or ever have been.

And be prepared for the licence details of a property that is rented for short lets to be requested, The tax authorities have long been clamping down on undeclared rental income.
