You should also check that your insurance (green card) covers you for an extended period - typically, car insurance for travel abroad is limited to 30 or 45 days. You should be able to extend this, perhaps for a small fee.

Make sure you have proof your car is taxed, now without a tax disc, the Spanish want proof it is taxed, some have been stopped, and they have no document, or paper to prove tax has been purchased in the UK.
This leads to the Spanish being able to issue a fine.

So much red tape I will have to look at everything needed as the vehicle we are driving was left as a gift to us by our friend that passed this year would hate to lose it many thanks

I hope you don't mind me 'piggy-backing' on you query with one of my own.
My wife and I are Irish (so, are citizens of an EU country) and have just bought an apartment in Murcia. We are considering bringing a car over from Ireland to Spain on a semi-permanent basis and would appreciate advise from anyone who might be 'in the know' about the rules governing that.
