Are there any banks that are free
As in no fees for having money in the account.

When you search in this forum you find that the "Wefferent" account at Cajamar is highly recommended. Its online account. We are with this. Its nearly free: you pay a fee if you need help with transaction at the branch. The on-line help is very helpfull. They answered my queries in 15 minutes.

Don't bother with a Spanish bank account.
Use somebody like Wise.com.
All done online, excellent exchange rate & very fast money movements.
Open a euro account & pay all your Spanish direct debits from that account.

Thanks for info Roland we used 'key cuurency' to move funds into the Caixa Bank account recommended by our solicitor.
Key Currency were amazing and would highly recommend.
Caixa Bank I wish we'd done a little more research before opening. Charging us to have money in a bank account- strange.
I will look into opening a euro bank account

Wise account and card a good idea however if you wish to draw money from a ATM there will be a charge.
I use wise for my monthly payments and a "Wefferent" account at Cajamar for cahs withdrawals ect
