Would I need central heating in a static caravan in the winter or do gas fires suffice.

Hmmm,

I used gas fires for years but stopped because of the loads of moisture they produced, not a good thing in the winter. Combined with the advice that the gas burners and gas cooktops produce benzene by-products which are very bad for your lungs.

Make sure you get a van with residential specification, as the insulation in holiday spec ones can leave you roasting in summer and shivering in winter, even with central heating and air con. It can be better value to buy a house, as depreciation on static caravans is normally high.

Thank you for your reply but I already have the caravan. It’s being transported over. I would love to buy a nice home but unfortunately can’t afford it.

My comments are based upon us owning a static in Yorkshire to use as a UK base to escape the summer heat and visit family in winter.

We lived in our caravan while looking to buy from October to February and we used a electric warm air heater which was great provided you are connected to electric
