Bonfire licence to dispose of garden waste

I am arranging for a lot of vegetation to be removed from a large field.
It is very expensive to have the vegetation transported to a land fill site, and I want to know if it is possible to get a licence to burn the vegetation on site.
Does anyone know if this is possible and if so, how long and what cost is required to get a bonfire licence.
