Suggest you go into a branch of Santander in UK they are brilliant they will transfer all accounts over to them and you have a Spanish bank anyway.  Explain your situation and they will help you.  Bankia have given us some grief in the past hence changing banks and the online banking system for Santander is much easier to use and setting it up was quick and easy. 

Are you saying that you can go into a Santander branch in the UK & open a Santander bank account in Spain ??

It's the same bank go and talk to them.  We opened our account here in Spain, but my brother has his branch in UK and as it is online banking uses it when he is over here.  Depends on what you want and where you actually want it held and what currency Euros or pounds. If you come over to Spain open the account then.....if not then visit them and ask.  So much better than Bankia.

Santander UK and Spain are not connected you cannot open an account for Santander Spain in UK !!

Sabadell in Spain has been good for us for almost five years...online banking through an APP works perfectly.
