We are in the process of buying a villa in Abanilla. But unable to get to Spain from GB.It will be a holiday home.

My estate agent has recommended the bank Sabadell and I have the forms to complete from the bank. I am rather reluctant to complete them as the bank charges are high way too high. I do not pay charges here so why should I to them. There will be hardly any transactions.

Can you help and advise us.  We do have a euro account with Barclays in GB.

Regards Charles Pulham

Use the search facility at the top of this page.

Search for Banking & Free Banking.

Lots of info for you there.

Sabadell is one of the worst banks in Spain for charges so avoid at all costs.

Your estate agent is most likely getting a referral fee !!

If you want your blood sucked, sign up with Sabadell!

There actually is a bank which levies no charges, sorry NO CHARGES, it is called Cajamar Caja Rural (also its web address). No charges for service monthly, no charges for credits or debits, whatever currency, no interest paid of course. Debit card f.o.c. Bit of a no-brainer really!

Is this account for residents only?

I have gone online, tried to open an account and it advises that I need to enrol with electronic banking. To do so, you require either Resident Card or NIF number. (I only have an NIE)
