Hi guys

So i have been reading that spain will make sure that you have to have a certain amount of income coming in monthly to live there, we were going to live on a lump sum we got from the sale of our house untill we received our retirement pensions, but this seem no longer to be acceptable any ideas?

Hi Eileen

The rules, as we believe are that you have to prove you have xyz income coming into your Spanish Bank Account (here in Murcia) on a regular basis if you intend to settle and take up Residency (here in Murcia).  Bank Statements for 6 months previous were required prior to doing any paperwork too.  Proof needed too of where your funds from UK have come from.

Just as a side thought too .....if you are not yet a UK pensioner and entitled to health care within the reciprocal Spanish system then this too has to be backed by evidence, eg health insurance or in the case of a UK pensioner the S1 form.

To be honest you best seek legal advice from an authorised person, ie Solicitor or even contact the Spanish Embassy in London.  They can issue you with your NIE (which is really your first task to be done).  A lot cheaper than a Solicitor over here I believe.

Currently there is a long wait of over 4 months for an appointment to get Residencia as many people decided it might be a good idea to become legal (and they have crawled out of the woodwork) in view of the Brexit overhang.

Lots to be done .....all the best.

i think you have been misinformed to an extent, , yes you need to show your self sufficient, but, you can  drip feed your spanish acc with 700e per month no charges, sabadell, this should be enough, lots do the  very same as you, live on lump sum, buying a property will also help your case,, your solicitor, should explain all this.

see cab spain about health, .
