Just wanting to ask the folk who lives in Spain full about the weather, we have holidays in Spain but mainly in the off season months when the temperature is a very nice high teens and even the low twenties and yes it’s cooler at night , so when the summer hits and the temperature gets very hot is it comfortable or do you have to keep out of the sun , I’m asking this as living in the uk all my life I long for the warm long summers here , but if we move to Spain could it become to hot

Well, the temperatures will probably be above 30ºC from June until the end of September, with some highs of over 35ºC. Unless you have an air-conditioned property to live in, you will probably suffer, especially at night. Keeping out of the sun is optional but some of us stay indoors during the hottest part of the day and some prefer to lay out and bake in the sun. It's your choice!

At the moment it's bright & sunny, with temps varying from 14 - 23'C in the daytime, but at night it's cold - down to as low as 2'C. It is like this in December, January & February.

It will be pleasantly mid-20s in March, April & May and again in October & November.

In June through to September, it is hot - I live inland, where we don't get the sea breezes - and there were peaks of 43'C in July & August. Balsicas will be similar. However, with air-con, fans, cool drinks and a dip in the pool, it's perfectly manageable (to me).

All year long - very little rain - although sometimes when it does rain, it's torrential and the drains etc can't cope, but that really is very seldom.

In the UK, we don't seem to get the long warm summers that we all remember from when we were younger - and I know I'd rather be here in the warmth & sun, that in the cold, cloud & rain in the UK.

The last two summers have got more extended and hotter and hotter to the extent that July and August are virtually unbearable...you have to be inside or in water and covered up and or lots of cream..sleeping at night without ceiling fans or air con is hugely uncomfortable and hugely expensive now with increased electric charges...I am writing this in the shade in January as the temperature has surged last few days so just imagine day after day week after week from May till October unrelenting heat..my front door where I used to live in balsicas was untouchable early in the morning

Hola  yes cold damp expensive UK   or hot  cheaper  Spain

here a OK bottle of red is around €3     (not in the Spar in Balsicas  but in Aldi )

my tip drink the whole bottle    then sleep off the effects    but do not drive in that state

you sort of get used to the heat and have cold showers, drink a lot  of water     (not all wine   try a beer maybe)  umm a canna

in a glass from the freezer  topped up with a cold beer   heaven       best stay out of the sun mind

Tip put down the shutters  (refects the sun a way a bit)    open the windows     put your feet in a bowl of water     wear a hat

enjoy being dry and hot

Hi Stem,  the short answer is that July, August and most of September the heat is bloody unbearable!  A lot of Brits go back to UK for July & August.  Some still have UK homes or rent out their place and use the money to rent in UK.  Spaniards often holiday up in mountains.

Remember when you see the temps on weather forecasts it is the temp IN THE SHADE.  So when you see 28+  add another 10 degrees.  When you see it in the 30s  !!  We once stuck an outdoor thermometer in the direct sun when it said 37...  within 2 minutes it burst after hitting the max of 50degrees!

Streets and beaches are almost deserted between 1pm-5pm  Shutters are closed to keep sun out.   You will need a humidifier as well as fans and or air conditioners (expensive to run) as the air can be quite dry.  This is the famous siesta time.

Streets, parks, beach cafes, restaurants all come alive in the evening.  All the children are playing in the parks and on the beach too, often until midnight as whole families come out to walk and dine.  We love the night time strolls on the beach and eating in the beachside cafes.  There´s sometimes groups or singers or music playing and there´s a lovely atmosphere.

December & January, after months of hot, sunny weather, when the temps drop by 20-25 degrees it feels cold.  You´ll need heating of some form.  Pellet burners are popular.  They can also feed central heating.

Summary.  You will get 3 months of being really hot.  2 months of being too cold and 7 months of (mostly) beautiful weather.

It was the hottest summer on record last year and getting hotter every year, we are 15 years now and are planning on going to UK for the summer. I feel trapped indoors, and the dogs are panting despite the gizmos we buy to keep them cool. Air con is very dear to use.
