We have Spanish driving licences due for renewal later this year. Can anyone advise the procedure to do this. I’m asking early for advice in case the procedure is complicated.

You can go to the DGT office but the easiest way is to Google "renovar carnet conducir calasparra.  I did a quick Google and found this for you.

https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&tbm=lcl&sxsrf=APwXEdd7hydeLvZZm8BjopKQZgs38ukPkA:1683111061088&q=RENOVAR+CARNET+CONDUCIR+CALASPARRA&rflfq=1&num=20&stick=H4sIAAAAAAAAAB2QO0rEYBSFmUKxdUYsUgVXcN-PMowWgowSH73IiIUwojtyBa7LVXhikZD_5Nx7vv-cHA9nbFKRIt2SranNxcPGrTUiNKWsjZyph01plwo5RGlurWbMSzJ3qIiEdzbmBPNuJEqMV2hrp_oSlRkcTthrkCtaoHKycHpT4h8e9UU1t6SsbisTTQorqMAzKjMOSpiVzIc16NyiCPFEnNkGJ0JMDOkGJZc70rBhtnClUsZqtgqhYa2CWVYNo3QtVDCceuKKCEouzxa3YV1USKxMJo4CJi2NuKSLOBFV07IW0YFuuBROQ6FMVigvOoAXQI3WhcL-KRsmFAxGTlM0ZrCieBKgCj6cC3Q_q9Xv6vxuf_h434_P71-H8Wv__PnyNr4ePr-PLuar3e3TNI_bad5dPYzb293l4_Z6Od9M93fTPE9_dH9dnOsBAAA&ved=2ahUKEwiImqen_dj-AhWXdcAKHc3vBh0QjHJ6BAg5EAU&rldimm=14286722992793739181

I can recommend the first one on the list - Centro Médico Virgen de la Caridad - as my husband recently renewed his through them in their San Pedro del Pinatar branch. They did everything - even the photo!

He just took his old driving licence in, along with his TIE and passport (just in case) and it was all done and dusted in about 20 minutes. His new licence was sent to him a week or so later. They give you back your old licence and a temporary cover note for the renovation.

Good luck!

Thank you for the info. It’s sounds so easy, and with you giving me the info, even easier. Regards P

As you live in Calasparra this may be of more use to you as different towns may differ. You can go to the Office in Calasparra just pass the Bull Ring and near the lights to renew you licences. I have renewed mine twice there over the years without a problem. Just check their opening times as it is not normal opening times. If you are not a fluent Spanish speaker, may be an idea to take a Translator.

Thank you so very much for this information, it certainly seems to be an easier procedure than I expected here in Spain.
