Yes we grouted the solarium tiles when we moved in and it was a total waste of time. We later found out that the original tiles were laid on sand on the membrane. It didn't take long for the grout to come out. We retiled the roof with large non slip white tiles (to cut down expansion in the heat) and used a special tile cement, quite expensive but worth it for peace of mind. We thought about the paint bodge but that doesn't last long and as someone has already said "would you buy a house with painted solarium tiles"

Did you re tile on top of old tiles or remove old tiles first?
I had leaks in my fortuna roof. I removed all the old tiles and the gravel they sat on, and took up the allegedly waterproof membrane that did not go very far up the side walls.
the membrane was then replaced and a layer of insulation about 3" thick laid on top, with a new layer of tiles on top.
The work was done by the builder on A sector who has an office next to the ferreteria. He order all the materials, turned up on time, did the work, tidied up and away he went. I can recommend him.
Most important - my receipt shows that taxes were paid. Which means that when I come to sell the house this work can be added to the original house price before capital gains are charged. If you have work done for cash you cannot claim for that. I did try painting the roof before this but the paint rapidly wore off and became very unsightly.

Sounds like your builder knows his job.
If you are reparing a leak any good builder will not take the risk with "tiling over existing rubbish" or other such short cuts. He will, as he did in your case take everything off and start again with a proper job, even down to accessing the damproof membrane and replacing it with a quality job.
Your description of the work dismisses the myths of codging up a leaky roof, well done!

Mark Paddon BSc Hons Building Surveyor, MCIOB, CAAT, FAS qualified has done an excellent article on this is Tumbit.com/Flat roof problems on Spanish properties.
Well worth reading. His final quote at the end of the excellent article is....’As a rule flat roofs either do, did, or will one day leak......’
Very interesting article.
We have just had new non slip tiles put on our roof it wasn't leaking much but as we have a blow up jacuzzi on it we done it for safety aspect
