Hi my husband will be driving a 7 and a half ton lorry from the uk to spain next week.  Are there any restrictions for carrying a pet in the lorry.

Sorry but not all Vets provide this information mine wouldn’t & said it’s the owners responsibility to find out the travel requirements. Your dog needs to be chipped - have a pet passport & had rabies jab within the required time frame up to date of travel.

What route do you plan to take?

Thankyou. Yes he has all those but just trying to find out if he can travel in the lorry my husband is driving to bring our belongings over.

Don't forget the dog must have a seatbelt, all petshops sell them about £10,

Is your husband aware of the driving hours, documents and safety devices he will need ?

Thank you for your reply. Yes they are aware of the hours. My step brother is sharing the driving.

Kind regards

Wendy

Unfortunately that is true I used to be a European truck driver and you are not allowed pets on freight, why don't you use Brittany ferries,if you sum up the price of toll, fuel ect to cross France there's not much difference, from Bilbao or Santander to your destination, two drivers can do it easy.it's about 580 miles.if you get the afternoon ferry it docks in the following evening which gives you all night to drive and probably no tolls, there are ample service stations that are open 24/7 on route,if you require anymore info from me you can ring me via private message, ivan
