Thanks, we have made a note of them. Do you have an email address for the Camposol branch by any chance?

Hello again, while the other contributors are useful in terms of alternative currency houses, they do not address the issue of what to do with the actual che. As far as I’m aware, a currency house cannot accept the cheque in the same way as a bank clears a cheque.

With the correct security checks and clearance, I think that the lawyers can send the money over digitally.

It is what my family did in Spain.

Hi All

I’m hoping to sell my property on Camposol and will receive a bankers draft in joint names (wife and myself) in Euros which we will obviously want to convert to GBP and move back to our UK bank.

We don’t have a Spanish bank in order to do this as we pay all our direct debits etc via a Wise Euro account. Although we’ve never had a problem with Wise we’ve only moved small amounts (GBP to €) with them to cover bills and are concerned about using them to handle what is effectively our life savings.

Can anyone please suggest/recommend a suitable proven alternative. I understand that the likes of Moneycorp or similar might be appropriate.

Regards

Why don't you use Wise but do it in tranches of £5000. The transfer takes around 2 minutes, you can check your UK account to make sure it has been received, then do another and so on. I know this would be a long winded way but your money with Wise is not protected by the FSCS guarantee. I am looking to sell my property next year and that is the way I intend to do it.

The OP is talking about a bankers draft.

I don't think Wise accept things like that as they are online only

Yes thank you, I have just read that bit. They could open a Spanish bank account instead, and then do what I suggested.

Hi

Thanks for your message. You purchased in Spain whereas we are selling in Spain and as my original post says, payment will be by bankers draft.

Starling don’t accept these and as far as I’m aware they limit movement of funds. We have a Wise account for payment of direct debits in Spain which is great for small amounts but it is not regulated and people seem (quite rightly) reluctant to use them for large amounts. Furthermore they don’t accept bankers drafts. We are exploring Currenciesdirect.

Starling account is great, we’ve absolutely no complaints with them. Great exchange rate when we shift from our Euro to Sterling account. Unlike a high street bank which allows walk ins, Starling is on line only. I very much doubt that a bankers draft could be banked with them as such?
