Forgive me, as I am a technophobe. Recently bought on Camposol D. Have a massive sky dish on roof.

Compusurf, (with whom I have my internet when visiting,) have offered a free TV service (Free?) and  I am told that if I get a sky box I can get sky on my TV but this involves alsorts of technical shenanigans.

Could anyone enlighten me as to the best option please. I just visit at the moment but plan on moving over asap. If I sound like a total moron, then perhaps someone can recommend an honest  TV engineer who will not overcharge.

Hi

We watch free English T.V through Compusurf all you need is a digi box such as Amazon Fire or similar and Compusurf will load English T.V and Radio unto your box, as its steamed through the Internet it does freeze sometimes. I watch SKY through my laptop connected to the Television but I have SKY Go so I'm paying my subcripion in U.K but you can't get BBC channels on Sky Go.

Hope this helps. Phil.

We've been here on D for 6 months and use Telitec for internet and tv package  not the cheapest but overall very good and fast connection,a couple of outages but still better than Virgin media back in the UK. Main plus for us is that it is fibre optic cable into the house so no need for huge eyesore of a dish on the solarium. Others may tell you the fibre connection does not go into the house, can assure you it does, watched the lads installing it all and had a good chat about it all over a cuppa. Phone Charlie on 968068505 and she will be able to help out with details etc.

Providing your dish is correctly aligned and the cabling is OK, it would be a good idea to get yourself a low cost satellite TV receiver to connect to it. You can get most UK TV channels via the dish for free. Check what connections your TV has. You will probably need HDMI for the satellite receiver.
That said, I would also get an Internet TV service. You have Compusurf Internet, you can connect an Android receiver up to that. Go see Geoff in TJ Electrical (Euronics) on Sector B. They have good quality Android boxes (uses HDMI connection to the TV). Compusurf will configure it for you. You can have BBC iPlayer & other services running on your TV.

Then you would have two systems that can receive Freeview UK TV (NOT Sky, unless you get a hooky Sky box & account).

It would be handy, as occasionally either service can go awol for a while.

Bad weather can affect satellite TV reception, but mine is working fine just now, despite the heavy rain & heavy cloud cover.

I'm on Camposol, Sector C2...

If you have a good reliable internet connection have a look at tvmucho - 33 channels mostly in HD for less then 70 Euros per year.

Just use a smart tv and their website - very helpful live chat support.

We have had it on all day with no problem other than a short break when the internet went down (Avatel 6MB Wimax).
