Many thanks for that, will look into the info. We are planning on buying a motorhome once back in uk to use over here for a change of scenery. ( we previously had one but sold it 2 years ago as " lack of use since buying the villa). Regards, Jaz

Hi,
That's our intention exactly.
We had a fantastic time travelling down - dawdling about through France and stopping wherever we thought suitable.
Cheers.

Hola I do not wish to dampen your fireworks BUT you do need to go very careful here I had a 2014 Clio just over two years ago
the cost to have the lights etc changed and a ITV then import the car was way over €2,000 the car was worth in the UK 4,000
So I thought trade it in, a very bad mistake I then had a S class Merc OK heavy on fuel but road tax was €450 insurance €560
plus the brakes was hopeless and would cost €2,500 to repair (when someone in Spain finds you are English they bump the price up)
I then found this sweet MG TF for €3,500 but the engine blew up after two weeks I had bought the car in good faith from Specialist Vehicles in San Javier in Spain there is a law that states "must be fit for perpose" but it takes years to come to court and cost more than the car then Specialist Vehicles (David Bazley) totaly blanked me, in the end, I had to employ a person just to talk to him?
He still would not offer any help so I sold the MG to "cars in Spain" for €700 with out a working engine now have a nice Volvo
My advice is try and buy a new car it will work out cheaper in the long run best of luck Dave
Omg maybe better bringing one from uk then

Hola again yes to import a car from the UK can be expensive my advice is to try and source LHD lights front and tail that will fit your car then the ITV (mot) is some €40 and some €800 to import but you can drive around for quite a while with UK plates
also, insurance is another thing try Liberty Seguros info@insuranceagents.es over here you need breakdown cover and you are not allowed to tow

Hola is it a UK reg motorhome? only you can not import it the rear side exit doors are on the wrong side I was told please look into this
Hi,
Both my vehicles are UK registered and I'll be using them to travel to and from Camposol whilst this Brexit */*/*/* sorts itself out.
My UK vehicle is completely legal for use in EU with all the necessary light deflectors and extra emergency kit, green card and all documentation with us - I understand from my solicitor that no-one seems to be bothered about the use of UK cars but technically should be registered in Spain if they are to be here permanently for more than a year. I've no intention of trying to re-register a UK into Spanish Registration.
If we find there's to be no change to the existing arrangements then we'll probably source a reliable Spanish registered vehicle with all that entails.
I agree with the advise about buying an 'unknown' used vehicle - from what I've seen and researched - they seem to be high miles, little history and considerably more expensive than in UK. So would probably look for a very recent or new vehicle as first choice.
Cheers

Your solicitor is either misunderstanding you or mis informing you.
A UK registered vehicle can only be used for 6 months in Spain.
It must then be put on Spanish plates at a considerable cost sometimes.
If you are caught there are very heavy penalties as quite a number of people on Camposol can confirm !!

Hola again all I know a UK motor home will not pass an ITV as the door from the "caravan part" will open into the road
I do advise you to look into what is on offer you are correct a car in the UK is far cheaper but the cost to import and light deflectors
will also not pass the ITV so if you wish to bring in a UK car try and find headlights and tail lights for left hand drive on line!
Also the car sale (con artists) here are up to many tricks such as buying BMWs in Germany were they are cheap then selling them in Spaiñ at a very high marked up price I was caught with this trick by Specialist Vehicles found out after the engine blew up after two weeks then they just kept my money and would not reply to my letters
BUT try and find Paul of Spanish cars in Torre he has some cheap cars that a bit rough around the edges also some nice cars
I have bought my Smart car for Paul
