Hi does anyone have an information on how we would receive a Driving speeding or parking fine in Spain we don’t have any post as all the bills are paid online so we have no reason to go to the post office, is there an app where you can enter your Spanish address and car registration to get a fine notification.

Phil.

If you have a digital certificate (and how would you manage living in Spain without one?) you can register with the DGT, and they will notify you of any "multas" - and in time for you to pay promptly and get the 50% discount. This can be especially useful if you go out of Spain for periods, when any post will be unseen. We saved having a fine for not attending a summons to the tax authorities (who we are also registered with) that we would not have otherwise known about, as we were able to rearrange the appointment for when we returned to Spain

Note that parking fines are usually imposed by the local council rather than the DGT, so notifications of these may vary from Ayuntamiento to Ayuntamiento.

A Digital Certificate is an identifier for you on government websites. You can access your tax, health, and similar records using it. There is a simple form and a small fee, but if you struggle with Spanish you can use a gestor to sort it for you - e.g. Gloria Quintana at QML in Los Alcazares.

The DGT is the Department General Trafico, the national equivalent of the DVLA.

I followed it all through up until you have to make an appointment at some office to validate the certificate.

What's the point of doing everything online then having to make an appointment & stand in one of those famous Spanish queues for an hour

😁😁

Cheers Roland I might ask our Solicitor who has power of attorney if they can sort it out for us I’m worried I may get a speeding fine and end up with a larger fine due to non payment not that I drive fast but some of the minor roads have new speed restrictions, I’ll keep the forum updated if get anymore information.

It is the only way that a funcionario can check that you, your passport and your NIE/TIE all match to prove who you are!

The certificates are valid for 4 years, and can be renewed once online, up to two months (I think!) before expiry, for a further 4 years. The next time after that you just have to repeat the process face-to-face.
