My daughter was on a Ryanair flight this morning which was diverted to Madrid.  Her flight was due to land at Corvera at 11.10am.  She now has to wait until 7pm this evening to board a coach back to Corvera.

She tells me it was chaotic at the airport with nobody able to pass on any useful information.

Correct Madrid.  The coach arrived at 8 pm and is now on route to Corvera.  I hope we can claim compensation.

Yes it will be inconvenient and somewhat disturbing. Hopefully you may get compensation.

Some people died in this storm, many taken to hospital, many have lost everything, houses, furniture, cars, homes even. The authorities and services have worked wonders again. Volunteers putting themselves into all kinds of danger and inconvenience. We owe them all a debt if thanks.

I am sure Corvera and  Almeria  airports will open again as soon as they can, they have lost money too due to this storm.

Not so sure about airline compensation due to an 'act of god' but good luck!

Yes, Act of God is in the back of my mind too.  But I will try and hope for the best. When the coach arrived at Corvera at 2.30 am the airport was closed and there were only three taxis available.  Everybody helped each other with lifts though.  I truly hope nobody got stranded. But my daughter did get back safe and sound unlike many others who are now facing the devastating aftermath of this awful weather.

Yes they divert to many airfields, depends on receiving capacity. Madrid, Malaga, Ibiza, Majorca and Alicante have been used throughout this stormy period. Just adds to the 'joys' of flying! On Thursday night, many were held in a pattern around Valencia for a long time until an alternative had been allocated.
