We are travelling to Camposol and looking to get ferry to either Bilbao or Santander.  Any advise and help on route would be welcome and any hints and tips. Do you have any recommendations on hotel to stay in. Have a dog so needs to be pet friendly

Consult: www.viamichelin.com

You will find alternative options incl. Toll and fuel costs.

On spanish motorways are "Hostals" which are pretty good but I do not know about pets....

I have driven it a few times, takes between 8 and 9 hours with short toilet breaks, if you are arriving at 8.15 pm, then advised to stop in motel I did 246 k from Santander and got to motel at 11pm, basically you pay money at barrier and show passport then they allocate a room number, you then drive around till you reach the room number and they open the garage door you drive in unload car into adjoining room, then press black button on wall garage doors shuts do carxand you are safe and sound, cost me €50 for the night, then left at 7.30 am arrived at villa 2 pm in camposol, hope this helps, safe journey.

We did the Portsmouth to Santander route.

Arrived Santander after 5:00 pm on Saturday 30th June. Stayed overnight in a hostel in Santander, then drove to Camposol the following day. We arrived at our house in Camposol at 6:00 pm on Sunday 1-7-2018.

We stopped en-route a few times to let the dogs have a break & we grabbed a coffee.

Easy peasy.

Hi

We stopped in Soto Real at the

Gran Hostal Asador de Soto

Pet friendly and free, car parking free and there's a nice outside bar area.  We were invited to take our two Westy"s into the restaurant for our meal.

They do a good menu of the day/night for 11euros

Used our satnav on no toll road setting and the journey was split 45% day one 55% day two.

Forgot to mention 50 euros a night for a double room
