Good morning, I have a property on sec D and was due out next week, also again in June which I’ve cancelled both, but I’ve spoken to a pal who’s living in camposol and the rumours are that there’ll be no holiday makers this year? My thinking is I have maintenance etc on my property as apposed to holidaying so will I still be able to get there when lockdown relaxes ? Just peoples thoughts.

Thanks

Lee

I was supposed to be going over to Camposol for 2 months starting from April the 19th ...but this hasn't happened ...this long stay trip was to do essential maintenance on the villa and  have come to the conclusion that it's going to be put off until next year.. personally I think we will be able to fly out around the end of August ...but the Covid 19 thing will still be in existence until a cure is found ..so like everyone else I am  not to sure what restrictions will be imposed on visitors.

Hi Lee - I've still got my flights booked for June, July & September - hopefully to do maintenance on our property and enjoy bit of sunshine. If allowed to fly, will respect Spain's social distancing regulations. It would be good if we could fly out, even though it's only a week at a time. It all depends on what the regulations will be, hopefully these will be forthcoming.

hi jaz007, thanks for the reply and what your plans are, agreed it'll be good to get out to do a bit of maintenance and grab a bit of sun, i did think about keeping my flight in june, but decided it wouldn't be up and running, i am booked for october so hopefully that will still stand, good luck with your trips, stay safe.

Have you thought about how it would be possible to socially distance in an airport, let alone on board an aircraft with 6 seats across crammed into as small a space a possible - maybe if the flight was quarter full it might be possible, but how many airlines can afford to operate flights on that basis, without seriously hiking up flight prices. I think we may we see the end of budget flights for the foreseeable. Just my thoughts on the likelihood of travel to Spain.

I wanted to be able to fly out to our property this year and will if a way can be found to do this safely, but it increasingly looks like it will be a journey by car for us next time out.

Only my thoughts Mitch, there's increasing talk of the social distancing being reduced to one metre in these cases, including travel, restaurants, places of work etc..... maybe when level headed thinking  resumes??  Personally thinking, I reckon it's the only way any form of normality can resume.  Just shoot the idiots!!

Gents, I think both have good points, the flight prices will increase definitely so there will be no cheap flights as before, and to be honest driving down is a bit of pain in the arse but could be the way to go for a while, although it wouldn’t just be for  4 day trip as before, has there been any casualties with regards to bars or restaurants in camposol or is the furlough system holding out. ATM?

cheers

I think much depends on the government’s stance. The Spanish PM has already stated tourist industry will be negligible until at least September, possibly 2021. If the virus death rate continues downwards things could improve slightly but start to increase and back to lockdown square one. At present Spanish residents returning, EU citizens and home owners with residencias are permitted to enter Spain, second home owners could have to wait.  Airline companies are also a factor in this equation, there may be restrictions regarding seating arrangements so prices will be higher as fewer passengers allowed. To be honest I wouldn’t plan anything until autumn and then review.

We were due to fly in may and september. May has been cancelled so I rescheduled for end of June more in hope than anything else

In general, you can see that Spain  is trying to get things back on track and both the Diner and Rudy's have indicated they will reopen next Monday based on the new rules and permission being granted

However, flying and self distancing is a whole new ball game which no one yet seems to have an answer for

I rate my chances of the September break as 50/50 but would not be surprised if I have to wait until next year or even until a vaccine is found and administered
