Can anyone help me please. My husband has just been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia here in the UK. So no travel for us Coronavirus or not.

Our problem? Our IBI is due before the end of this month and yes we should have organised this payment via our bank, but rather stubborn husband never wanted to. My first question, can someone pay this for me after of course I have transferred the money in to their account? Or does it have to be me in person. I have to say that in past years, even when I have taken my NIE number the people in the office always want my husband’s NIE and to see him in person. Naturally that is completely impossible this year!

Secondly, our car’s ITV is due at the end of October. This sounds like a long way away but as my husband will have hopefully received a bone marrow transplant by then and will be very vulnerable to the slightest infection, our planned trip in October  is off for not just him but me as well.

Second question. Can ANYONE take my car for its ITV or does it have to be me?

If anyone can offer any advice on either of these issues I would be extremely grateful.

Stay safe Camposol, we miss you so much.

Love

Flo

1)

Yes somebody else can pay your IBI tax for you.

Why not ask your solicitor to do it for you ??

And set up a Direct Debit for you at the same time.

2)

Anybody can take your car for an ITV test.

Make sure they have the little booklet that the ITV test station puts the stamp in.

Make sure that you give whoever is taking the car to the ITV test station a copy of a valid insurance certificate.

Thank you Roland

I have not been in contact with my Solicitor for years, but I will certainly recontact him and ask him to do the IBI payment for me. Then all I have to do is find someone to take the car for its ITV. Thank you for your advice.

Is your car parked at your villa ??

Or with a car parking company at an airport ??

The reason I ask is that the car park company could do the ITV for you.

They will of course charge...........

OK.

How about trying one of the 'brit' garages ??

Just for ease of language.

They would probably pick it up & take it back to your house.

Is there anyway You could get the paperwork and the keys to me? I will do it,  no charge of course.

Although if it fails, I could only get a few things sorted. I hope this helps. Plenty of us will help out if we can.

If I can I will pay your IBI tax too, if required. The last thing you need is to worry about what is happening here.

Gosh! You are really kind. You have restored my faith in human nature and I would not expect anyone to do anything for nothing.

I am going to contact my solicitor and ask him to pay the IBI and set up a direct debit. He is my power of attorney So in theory that problem should be solvable. The car? Hmmmmmm more of an issue. Roland has kindly suggested that Ken Sherwood May be able to help me as I do know that the car needs two tyres. This was a job I had planned for Easter.
That seems like a lifetime ago.

I will contact him and see if he has any suggestions. At least I have a bit of time on my side for that worry as the ITV is not due until the end of October, but I know only too well that October will be upon us before we know it.

Thank you SO MUCH for your kindness. Perhaps when my life goes back to some type of normal again we can meet up for a coffee and remember these difficult times.

Love
