Can anyone enlighten me ? We ordered my husband's S1 form before we came to Spain. (he is 65, I am 61) It said I would get healthcare because of him. We were told by UK that I did not need an S1. The Spanish said I did ,so now I have mine.

The earliest appointment for my residencia is 23rd October. We both have NIE and Padron and my husband already has residencia.

1) Do I need residencia for my S1?

2) Do we need a translation of out marriage certificate? (I have ordered an Apostille of it)

Could I get private healthcare as an interim measure just to cover for a few months?

Many thanks.

you can use your ehic if you need anything while you're waiting...we were even told any cost would be reimbursed. You will need your proof of health care when applying for residency...it might be better to pay someone to help you through the process....someone nearby will know.

Many thanks -that is a relief th know I can use the card. We have an interpreter who helps us, but Spanish bureaucracy even gets to him!

if he is a UK state pensioner he will have access to Spanish healthcare through his S1 form from DWP..you can piggy back on this too as his spouse. You may need your marriage certificate translated and apostilled fo your residencia application.

Don't know if it might apply in Murcia but back in 2005 as an unmarried couple we obtained a "certificado de conviviencia" from our Town Hall, and this was accepted as proof that we were a couple and I was dependent on my better half as far as health care was concerned. To get the certificate we had to show three years of bills etc in both our names at the same address, nothing apostillated.
