We went to the Ayuntamiento when we moved up from Andalucia, they did the padron and car registration for road tax but you need the main state health centre to change you to Murcia health system. For us this was Los Alcazares, though they then offered us the more local centre to us in Los Narejos, which suited. It took a few weeks IIRC for the plastic cards to come through.

I do not know where the health centres are down your way. Be aware that the prescription system is different up here - rather than using your card at any farmacia in Malaga province (maybe all Andalucia?) you get a barcoded printout from the doctor and take that into the farmacia.

Don't forget to update your registration as a foreigner - your NIE stays the same number but the forms must show your current address.

As you have moved to Camposol, the health centre in the town of Mazarrón.   Mornings only, you go into to building turn right go up the stairs and it's in room 30.  Get there early.     Also for good local information join  preguntas y mas Murcia    and camposol groups on Facebook.

Welcome to Camposol

Hi Helen,  That is very helpful, we are new to the system in this country and are both retired.  What do we need to take with us when we go and is it the building more or less opposite Andrea's Animal Rescue shop?

Many thanks

Hi.. welcome to Camposol 😊 . You might find it helpful to contact Debbie Shaw through the Facebook sites the other poster advised...she does all this for you and lots of other things that help you through the paperwork .

Hi  yes its the one opposite the charity shop.  We were starting from scratch so had to get an appointment with the health department first and then take paperwork to the health centre.  As someone has already mentioned you can contact Debbie Shaw via Facebook who is very good or we used the services of Costa Calida property,  based on Sector A near Cats bar.  Both are very good and will explain the process depending on your individual situation.   Good luck

If you are British then you can get free health care as a visitor using your EHIC. This does not mean you can register with a state GP, but you can get urgent treatment in main health centres or state hospitals.
