Hi Mick,

as you’ve posted in the Camposol forum are you asking for recommendations within Camposol or within the Murcia providence generally?

My advice would be to come over and stay, bring or hire a car (and Sat Nav) and visit as many places as you possibly can.

I would also suggest that you come back later in the year as some places can feel quite different during the quieter winter months.

Finally don't believe all of the negative comments (particularly about Camposol). Judge for yourself.

We fell in love with Murcia and Camposol and I'm sure you will find somewhere you want to retire to.

Hi Mike,

We don’t live on Camposol but for what they’re worth I’ll share my thoughts with you....

We initially thought we’d like to live inland however after looking around we bought along the Mar Menor and for us it’s perfect, I appreciate the sea breeze, I don’t think I’d have been able to tolerate the additional 5/10 degrees inland.
Lots of factors will influence your final decision, what’s important is different for everyone.... for us it was access to amenities and a variety of things to do and places to visit on our doorstep. One of the most important things for us was to be able to walk to the local coffee shop/restaurant easily both in terms of distance and terrain, we didn’t want it so far away that one visit a day was about all we could manage....where we are now is flat which encourages lots of morning coffee and early evening drink walks....

And I agree with MrB, you have to visit and experience the different places for yourself.

Good luck with your search, which can be very exciting.

You should look everywhere and think long and hard. Inland or by the sea. But the coast has it for me anytime. The sea has a very therapeutic value. And as we get older it is just so uplifting. If you have choice go for the coast.

From the places you've mentioned, I assume you play golf..?

If so, El Valle is the best golf course of those mentioned and the development is tranquil, laid back, quite classy. However, there is only 1 x bar, 1 x restaurant and a small shop; and you're a 20 mins drive to anywhere with a choice of shops, bars, restaurants. It also has the highest purchase prices of the areas you've mentioned (£70K+ for a 2 bed apartment, £230k+ for a 3 bed villa).

Hacienda de Requelme is another of the original Polaris World resorts as part of the Golden Bear trail. Larger resort, more affordable and with a few bars & restaurants. The golf course is good, but you feel more enclosed between the apartments / villas. La Torre is similar. These resorts tend to have a lot of holiday homes with owners from many different european countries, along with rentals as well as residents.

Camposol is a much bigger development, with 4,000 homes for mainly full-time retiree residents#, a lot of Brits; and with prices starting from as little as £50k. There are many people on this forum with first-hand knowledge who could advise re- the pros & cons of Camposol, better than me, so I'll leave that to them.

As per other posts, I would recommend spend time viewing as many areas as possible - around the Mar Menor, the coast at Aguilas & Mazarron, the inland resorts as referred to above. There are also more remote villas / fincas, etc. dotted around the countryside and a whole range of prices. The weather and cost of living will be the same everywhere, it just depends what style of life you're looking for...

Hope this helps!
