Hello

Can anyone give me some advice concerning my ceiling fan that without warning suddenly stopped working.

It has to have the light in the middle turned on first and then the control for the speed of the fan. Well, the light won't come on at all and neither will the fan.

I have checked the fuses and nothing is wrong there.

I bought this fan in 2019 from LeRoy Merlin, we didn't come back to our holiday home until last year, 2022 when we used it daily and then again this year we have used it on a daily basis as with the same one in the bedroom.

I thought I noticed that it was slowing down slightly but didn't think anything of it until it stopped working. As luck would have it on the final day of our holiday.

My question; does anyone know the life span of ceiling fans? Do they have a lifespan? I have a couple in a property in the UK that are over 70 years old and still work.

Second question, can they be repaired? if so does anyone know a place that offers repairs of this kind?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Flo

If the fuses are ok & neither the light nor the fan works I would suspect that there is a loose wire in the fitting.

Probably a simple fix.

Great. Any idea where/who could do this repair for me?

It'd cheaper to buy a new one in my opinion not sure how long they last but I would change.

Yes it does and no I haven’t but the light won’t switch on from the mains switch. I have to do that before even starting to use the remote control.

So have you always had to have the light on for the fan to work,  as these should be independent of each other,  so you can use the fan without the light at night when it's boiling hot...

Oh yes. Once I have turned the light on I can then use the remote control to turn the fan on with a choice of speed and also the option to turn the light off using the remote.
