Good Evening everyone

My husband and i are selling up in the Uk and planning to move to Camposol as soon as we possibly can.

We have decided to rent before we buy just to be sure its the right place for us.

Does anyone know how the rent to buy scheme works?

Thank you

Lynne

Hi there, I have heard of people who have rented with a view to buying a property, but not of a gov scheme. Probably best to speak to an agent over here. Would suggest Mick Yates of Luz del Sol or Dawn Witcomb at 2let2buy2sell. Both will tell you how things are. As an aside, and apologies if this is teaching granny to suck eggs, but you will probably be outside the Brexit withdrawal agreement provisions for future healthcare and pension guarantees and will need to apply for residency as third country nationals. This means changes in the amount of money you will need in order to apply for residency. Hope this helps and good luck with your plans.

I hate to say this, but please remember you will now be trying to move under Shengan rules. You have to be able to prove you will not be a drain on the Spanish government.  You will need to prove you have an income of over 2000 euros per month. Nearer 3k if a married couple, and also show adequate insurance. It is going to be very difficult to move here. Also, could be a problem with UK banks charging a lot to allow money to be withdrawn in Europe. Very very unfair. With no reciprocal health agreement. A lot of ex pat pensioners could find themselves in trouble. Why Boris would want a million furious pensioners returning to the UK, is not known.
