I have had some rediculous quotes for private healthcare. Can anyone suggest a company. I am a 71 year old woman in good health apart from a bit of arthritis which I don't take any medication for. Any advice will be welcome want to move to Spain permanent later on in the year.thankyou. Dorothy

I have quotes from Cigna, Aetna, bipartisan, axa. They are all ridicously high are there any health insurance places on camposol.  I would like to live there but can't afford high prices for health insurance and it will mean the difference of going to camposol or staying in England after br exit.

If you are moving permanently to Spain...at the age of 71 you will be able to have Spanish NHS for free all you have to do is Register as a resident .you do not need private health care ..if you are visiting Spain as a tourist you can use the UK EHIC for for up to six.mouths in Spain and also get free Spanish NHS.

My husband got his state pension. He phoned Newcastle which deals with reciprocal health care for Spain. You can phone about 3 weeks before you leave. They send the S1 form to your Spanish address. You will need residencia to get the HC card though though, which you can get after 3 months. I got my HC through my husband though I am only 61. Please contact CAB Spain-they are very good. You would need NIE, padron too plus proof of income and proof of somewhere to live. We have just gone through all of this-it can be frustrating but you can employ a gestor/solicitor to deal with it all.The ex pats here are full of praise for the Spanish HC system. There are British Gov sites to give information about moving abroad too. Good luck with it.

The Spanish health system is very good but long delays for operations etc my partner was diagnosed with  eye problems last March (2017) she had  one operation in November and requires  three more but  could be waiting for many months.

if you move to spain and become resident which could take you 3-4 months you are entitled to free health care as a pensioner in the mean time get your european health which is free card and you can claim back expenses.

Hi,

My wife was born in Malta, and has just obtained Maltese citizenship, so we have been informed as Malta is in the EU, she will get free health care in any EU member country,

To this, as her husband, I can obtain a Maltese passport also, so qualify for free health care in the EU..

It is still not clear what will happen next March 2019 when the UK leave the EU, so health care is a top priority subject here for all Brits talking about moving to Spain.

Not sure if the Spanish Government will make any new decisions on its ex pats, as it could cause big problems to all.
