Good Morning all,

My wife and I are planning on moving to Spain 2023 (a wee while away I know) However for those of you who have done it Im sure you will have experienced that its a bit of a minefield.

Our plan is to rent for a year to find or dream home and area to live in.

I would like to use an immigration service that would take care of all the paperwork in applying for a NLV (non lucrative visa)

I would like someone I can contact and put all my questions to so I have a start point with sound legal advice.

So if there is anyone here that cant pass on a reputable company Id be extremely grateful. Preferably a company that maybe based in Scotland,

Thank you advance

Ian & Rachel

Aye , its all a bit daunting I must admit. We are in the early stages of finding the right home in the right area in the right country.

Obviously we will do our homework and research any plac that gets our interest but a lt of red flags for camposol.

Hi Ian, If you are looking to move to Spain, then my advice would be to move to Spain and not to one of the many areas almost completed populated by British citizens who just want to carry on their lives as before but just with more sun and cheap booze! There are plenty of towns with a good mix of nationalities, where you might find a British pub amongst all the Spanish bars and restaurants but you will still feel that you are living in Spain. Learn the language and the customs. Don't spend all your energy moaning about how the Spanish do things differently - it's their country and they can run it however they choose to do so. Don't be put off by those who have never integrated or made any attempt to do so and are still complaining about the very things that attracted them to Spain in the first place. Yes, we do have some mosquitoes. Yes, the sun is hot in the summer. Yes, some of the costs might be higher than they are in the UK but the general cost of living well is way lower than in the UK. Eating delicious, freshly-cooked food at very reasonable prices, in local restaurants is one of the great pleasures of living in Spain, that the UK could never match up to. Take a two-hour lunch and really enjoy the food, the wine, and the Spanish way of life. Google is your friend and you can find out population divisions in different areas, local industries, local estate agents, local restaurants, and of course there are lots of forums about, for you to ask people who actually live there. Good luck with your search on don't let the negative people change your mind. There are thousands of us who have lived here for years (38 for me), integrated well and enjoyed every minute and would never even think of returning to live in the UK!

Hi Ian - do your due diligence in buying and relocating to Spain, do the obvious pro's and con's list. Yes Camposol is not for everyone, we bought out here, purely for holiday home and then took the plunge last year to relocate fully (owned property 2yrs). If you have a budget stick to it, also add 10 to 12% on value of property to cover all fees. Most importantly DO NOT PAY DEPOSIT UNTIL YOUR SOLICITOR ADVISES ALL IS OK - EVEN IF ESTATE AGENTS PRESSURE YOU INTO PAYING A DEPOSIT. Good luck in your search.

Couldn't agree more with what you had to say. In We don't live permanently in Spain but  bought our first property in 2004 in Catalonia and two years ago moved south to San Pedro. We spend a lot of the year in Spain and if you try to integrate with the locals it will enrich your experience of life in Spain no end, like your own experience.

Helpful, welcoming people, wonderful food, cheaper living in most but not all cases and amazing history, places to see as well as the obvious attraction of the sea and weather. I can find few downsides but be prepared to adapt to the Spanish way if doing things. Viva Espagña
