Hi

Well, it's getting very real now!  We hope to coming over in the next few months and was wondering if anyone has used a one way van hire company?  We don't have too much in the way of stuff to bring over but we also have 2 dogs and thought this may be the best solution.

Any advice would be welcome!

Hi, I am new to this site and hoping to move out soon as well.

I have been doing my research into one way van hire for our move with a dog.

I have found 2 companies J Hire and Way2go, both quotes are reasonable and what I expected. I will use one of these once I have a date.

Hope that helps a little.

Sharon

Hi Sharon,

We used way to go for one way hire - the van was awful, gear knob fell off, the transponder part of the key was not attached to the key which created issues when trying to start it after stopping for a break or topping up the tank. We had engine warning lights on most of the drive - we called the company on route to let them know of the issues and to be honest they really didn’t want to know, no help, no suggestions or replacement van sent!

Hope the above info helps you decide on which company you use.

Happy Moving 😀

Hi both, just a word on bringing your dogs over.In the event of a no-deal Brexit, the requirements for entry into the EU may change, depending on the classification of the U.K. as a 'third country'.If we are Listed Part 1 or 2 there won't be much change to the current requirements, but if we are are unlisted.then there will be a delay of around 4 months due to blood-tests etc.before you can bring your dogs into the EU.You can keep up to date with contingency plans for pet travel on the Defra and  Gov.UK sites. If you have no set dates for moving over yet, then it would be wise to move over before the end of March,so you don't need to worry about your pets.Hope this helps, regards,Gerry

Thank you to everyone who replied.  We are now here in Camposol with our dogs.  We went down the route of hiring a man with a van who also is registered to transport animals.  He brought over the dogs and our stuff and we flew over.  This worked out very well as we were not bringing furniture.

We used Edward Carmichael, found him on Facebook.  There's a Camposol page that has been very useful.
