I don't think you can go for a lower potencia than what you have got or you risk the electric tripping out all the time.

They will also charge you to lower the potencia.

Thank you

I think you should think about your consumption. We have a 4 bed, 3 bath, with a large pool (the photo on my profile) and our bills are about €120 - €140 per month when we're there and we don't live frugally.

Without teaching you to suck eggs - highest consumption is from appliances that have a heating or cooling effect and/or a motor and that are used for long periods....

...

So I would start with electric water heater - is it on all the time, or on demand or on a timer?; air-con - is it on all the time, do you need it on all the time, or just as required, or on a timer, are you cooling rooms that you don't use, do you have doors & windows open when the aircon is on, so it's trying to cool the whole world :-) ? pool pump (unavoidable); pool heating (very expensive).

Other appliances are very much on demand - electric cooker, kettle, hair dryer, washing machine - and these are the ones where you risk blowing fuse - kettle + aircon + hairdryer will blow your fuses probably, but they're not in use for long periods.

Lights, tv, etc are almost negligible.

Thanks Rich,  water heater turned off fully when not there, on timer when we are...air con off when not there only used when needed and in what rooms required. No pool. Obviously it’s difficult as we haven’t been there really since we bought it but even though we know electric is expensive in Spain a little surprised at how it varies 10/15 euros as we have nothing else coming on but they do vary when the readings are from and to by a week or 10 days or so... that maybe the answer. Thanks for your help. Hopefully when we can finally get there we can look into it more fully. Thanks for your time

Don't forget that it will vary according to the number of days in any particular month !!

Yes, Option 1, as your potencia isn't higher than 10kW anyway.

Thanks Rich....

Hello,

If you want more detailed info of your consumption, you can do the following:

1/ download your Iberdrola "consumption report" on the standard free customer login. This will show you per hour your consumption.

2/ Register free on "i-de" Iberdrola. This will give you some more info on your installation.

https://www.i-de.es/consumidores/web/guest/login#informacion-del-contrato

3/ If you don't understand why you have a high consumption > install a central smart metering device (we have Wibeee) that can detail how much power each appliance is using. Most of these analysises are displayed in real time via a smartphone app.

Success !

RichT sums it up well.

I am on a 3.3 kw supply & with no usage at all I have a bill of around 14 euro per month depending on the number of days in the month.

I pay the full bill by DD every month from my TransferWise euro account.

Hi Roland,

Can I ask, do you pay all your DDs through Wise?

I'm thinking as much as any of them, IBI and Car Tax?

Thanks in anticipation

Yes I do & have been doing so since January 2020.

I took the easy option & asked my solicitor in Spain to change all the DD for me.

The Spanish will tell you that you have to use a Spanish bank IBAN code but you most certainly do NOT.
