I've been to both Javea and Denia and like both.  We are not in Cabo Roig but on the Mar Menor Golf Resort which is 20mins south.  We have friends who have owned at CR for ages.  Recently having retired early we managed to meet up with them a few times and got to explore the area a bit.  I do stress the beachside is the best side, as near as you can get to it.  It is definitely cheaper the further south you go.  Probably for a reason though, ie not as popular/less facilities.

I'm sure you'll make the right decision for you.  Happy hunting

You should consider Isla Plana if you want to be near the sea and there are some Brits around.

it looks very  quiet there though and we are living in a very quiet area of Javea at this moment which I don't like really!

We will visit Isla Plana though and have a look round thankyou.

Unfortunately Isla Plana is completely dead in winter. It's a lovely place and I go there a lot, but it has changed considerably since the Community Centre closed.

Isla Plana is empty after season,  kinda same is Puerto de Mazzaron as it's mostly holiday homes a lot of them is Spanish. Cartagena is not a tourist city,it's busy all year round, not sure how many British down there though.

Why is your name Dangerous? How unusual!

Thanks for your reply.

Would you say that Cartagena then is a better place to live permanently than Puerto de mazarron?...

-thinking in terms of Christmas and fiestas and winter months etc and having something to do and more people around.

Ha ha, I can promise you it's not reflecting my personality..

Cartagena is busy town all year round, we quite like where we are, see view etc. But it's getting very quiet, obviously you need, I would highly recommend, to see themselves as area is really nice.

Cartegena is only a short drive from Puerto DE Mazarron, so living at or close to the port you have the best of both worlds. From my experience a high density of Brits means the area will eventually become 'Little England', fine if that's what you want, but I'd much rather have more of the real Spain.
