Thank you for your reply.  This may sound like a ridiculously stupid question, but, why are the properties SO cheap in Camposol and why are so many brits desperate to sell up and go back to the UK??

Anne

Anne hi, I have to say that there are NO ridiculously stupid questions when considering purchasing a property anywhere. I've read with interest, all of the replies regarding the first question on this subject and a lot of it rings true. For example, the building of houses over the rambla, building on earth that had originally been moved from C sector to create upper C and D sector not being given the chance to compact naturally over time.(Greed on the builders part). etc. You ask why properties are so cheap and so many Brits desperate to sell. Yes, I think it may be a "knee jerk" reaction to brexit, the possible fall in pensions and let's not forget, a lot of these people have been here a few years so we have an aging population who think it better to return to the U.K. for health reasons. We purchased our house primarily as a holiday home with the intention of moving here full time when the time is right. We've not had any problems whatsoever. So if you are really interested in purchasing here, I would say, do your homework, rent first to find the sector which suits you best and only then, when you have had time to make your OWN informed decision, go for it you won't  be sorry. Camposol is as lively or as quiet as YOU want it to be. Loads of stuff going on, or just enjoy the area and live the quiet life.

Hi Anne - personally I do not see that many people looking to move or rather the number hsave increased that much. I see plenty of properties being sold but equally as many being purchased and my guess this is pretty normal for this time of year

Of course some people are panicking over Brexit but IMO, this is being rash as nothing so far has been agreed and in all honesty the Spanish could not afford to lose all the Brits in a short space of time so I am more optimistic that a decent compromise will be found

As ARGK342 has pointed out, there are some infrastructure issues but I do not see how the lack of street lighting (for example) in some places (not all) would stop anyone wishing to purchase on Camposol...?

A good point made about renting. I was not aware that it was possible to rent until we spoke to the guy who we use as a taxi service and he told us of a guy who owns a big property which he rents out over Summer but then he rents a smaller property also on Camposol and basically earns over the Summer period...!!

Not sure of the availability of houses to rent but certainly an option to see whether or not camposol is what you are looking for

We did not do that but simply bought outright and to date we have no regrets whatsoever and still look to retire as and when the time is right.

Hi  Anne

You are correct regarding the location of upper c.  I hope you find your dream home on Camposol, and come to love the place as we do.  You just can't beat the feeling of getting up in the morning to bright sunshine and wonderful views.  Then if you get bored of that, there is always the fantastic beaches.  whats not to like?  Oh and by the way, the people of Camposol are great, and one of the main reasons we purchased a property here.

Good luck with your search

Anne

Hi Chris

A number of properties were built on reclaimed land. For example the rambla that runs through the centre of sector D was filled in then built on without being compacted properly, consequently some properties have had subsidence problems. Some properties on upper C have also been affected. My advi...

...ce would be to look at the area surrounding the property you are looking to buy to see if any of the neighbouring properties show evidence of damage. BTW we own a property on D and it is unaffected by any subsidence.

What numbers are classed as upper "C"?  Would it be C14 - C16 etc?

Have to say that when we drive around I see little evidence of subsidence on D (where we live) but in July we decided to take a closer look at C and in some areas thought the damage which we assume was subsidence but possibly was down to the flooding a few years ago looked quite bad

If you can, just drive around or get Mercers to do that for you as I found them very helpful

Regardless, so long as you take your own precautions cannot fault Camposol at all

I bought a classico villa on sector d which was awaiting papers it was very affordable for that reason.(Fortune favours the brave hopefully) My lawyer was excellent and held back thousands of euros from the vendor so as to ensure I was safe. My deeds should be with me shortly. Some people buy cars worth more than what I paid for this villa and loose money as soon as they drive it away. It has some embargos which have no legal standing as the property was purchased and registered before MASA went into liquidation hence retention of thousands of euros being withheld. Apparently the issue with the rambla and flooding is being sorted and the water authority is going to complete the works so the council wont have to foot the costs. A lot of the properties that have been unoccupied are now being done up and sold by the liquidators so this will improve the surrounding areas.

Hi Mark,

May I ask who your lawyer was for completing your purchase and was your property hit with the flooding 4 years ago?
