Unfortunately everyone   is being stung at the moment for car hire.

They haven’t had any revenue for a while, they also know this time round people will have to pay it, if they are to hire a car.

Especially those who book rented accommodation then go to book car hire as they are tied to dates

For someone like myself who comes over around six times a year and have a property then I will look at other alternatives, if the prices stay artificially high.

Centauro have a 24 hours cancellation policy either voucher or money back to card.

Watch out for goldcar, they like their hidden extras and sometimes you won’t get your money back if booked through doyouSpain.com

Hello,

Do you know of a car rental agency that either accepts cash for the deposit/no deposit or accepts that the credit card holder is not the driver? I keep reading that the card holder should be the driver. Thank you

The short answer is no, unless it is a back st hirer and you probably wouldn’t be fully covered.

The reason it has to be the driver is the liability lies with them as the driver and not the passenger or an other!

You can pay on arrival with a debit card in your name but you will have to take out the full insurance of the car hire company.

They need the card as security if an incident occurs.

Hope that clarifies things for you

Thank you for your time and explanation. I guess this is how it works here as I hired a car in Mauritius from Avis and they just needed the card holder to be there and did not require him to be the driver. I'll ask him to get his license 🤣

Thanks again!
