Go to   medicos.dkv.es

Choose your language “at the top”

The questions are easy to answer.

They asking YOUR type of insurance.

We got the hint not to answer where the doctor should be!!!!

Looking at moving to España NLV. Ages 57 and 64 no pre existing I see some recommendations for healthcare insurance.
But can we link in with S1 (which we know nothing about) at U.K. state pensionable age?

And can a EHIC or GHIC be used once here in a visa?

Loads of acronyms...

You can move from private health insurance to using your S1 when you are eligible for it and have successfully obtained it - i.e. at the date of renewal of your NLV, you would need to be able to provide a copy of your S1.

If you have a NLV, you are a resident of Spain, so you can't / shouldn't use a UK-issued EHIC or GHIC for treatment in Spain.

You also can't / shouldn't use the NHS when back in the UK (apart from emergencies). However, you could obtain a TSE (Spanish equivalent of GHIC) if you are using your S1 for your healthcare, which would be valid in the UK.

Hope this helps!

If you are a British citizen and in receipt of UK pension you are entitled to NHS care - we register as visitors at a local practice when we go over and get all the prescriptions on our list. These are free of course. Not all practices accept visitors so check first.

The GHIC can be useful for health cover in the rest of the EU - say for visits to France etc.
