Hi Nina,

I have packed some weird things over the years, sewing machine in carry on, spin dryer in holdall for the hold and cylinder vacuum cleaner. I,ve taken tools, drills, electric jigsaw, sander etc. Satellite recorders, dvd players. I dont think you,ll have any bother at all, especially if it,s in your hold luggage. In hand luggage, it would be inspected ,but after checking it will go through for sure.

Regards

Pauline.

I think it's the battery that will be an issue as not allowed on board check with the airline

Yes Nina the battery is a problem but we all take rechargables, laptops, ipads, rechargable shavers, games stations, ecigs, phones,  the list is huge really. I would be asking airport security as airlines just say no to remove their responsibility. If your airport is close to you, go ask security, if not phone them, they may say if put in your hand luggage where they can scan it seperately like other rechargable items it could be ok. If all fails, try "send my parcel" or see if anyone could bring it by vehicle. We are taking our car this month to search and buy a car, so you have made me think of the items that might not have been allowed to carry by plane and get them taken in the car so thanks for that. I live near Newcastle if you,re close by and any use?

Good luck

Pauline.

Hi Nina

I brought a dysonV7 animal cleaner over in a suitcase that went into the hold of the plane, no problem

If you are that concerned do ask the airline but of course, depending on which one they may say OHH you must pay extra!!

Go for it

Hi Pauline,  that’s really kind of you offering to take it for me,    I’m actually in Sheffield but my son lives in Newcastle and is visiting us this weekend, just a thought if your anywhere near to him he could drop it off!    He lives in St Peters Basin if that’s anyway close to where you are.      Nina

Hi Nina, I can do it no bother but logistically it means a bit of mileage. Your son is in Newcastle city centre but I,m in Blyth about 15miles north of Newcastle. Thats no big deal, he can drop off anytime, but the other end, our house is in Villena 70kms north west of Alicante. I've googled Lo Pagan and the best way I can offer nearest to you is an appointment we have in Almoradi on 27th with a notary. Lo Pagan is approx 41kms away, we,re 78 kms from Almoradi so already travelling a good way just to redo our wills, but if you think this could work then yes, I,ll fit it in. If you (or son maybe) are flying soon I,d appreciate if you took the vacuum and accessories (but I,ll take the battery and any spare you might want to add, just to save bit of space but if not then ok. Our car will be jam packed but we,re taking a van over in September if all goes ok with this car journey. I,m so disillusioned re Brexit etc cos we,ve had a really hard time over 12yrs with lots of nasty nightmares along the way(multiple corruptions) but ready now to visit longer and can only do 90days at a time and we cant get residency now as we have a house to refurbish and sell and if we get left with non EU residency ,we couldnt fulfil the income requirement of 40,000€ approx yr. Its frustrating what this could mean for our future, but it is what it is

Just let me know

Pauline.

Aw thank you Pauline, yes I agree the Newcastle side would not be a problem my son would have been happy to drop it off,  but as you say it’s the distance in Spain,  I really appreciate your kind offer,  my hubby is going out in a couple weeks so he’s going to ask Ryanair the best way of carrying the battery pack.   Good luck with your plans for Spain and I hope all works out for you guys!

Once again Pauline huge thanks for your kind offer.

Beat wishes Nina

I asked the same question last year. EasyJet said I was not allowed to take it on but I discharged the battery completely and took the hand set on board in my hand luggage. They must’ve been able to see what it was when it went through the scanner but no one said anything or stopped me. My Dyson is now happily installed in my holiday home in Spain and is an absolute godsend!

Give it a try.

Good Luck
