I'm up the road in santiago de la ribera and I have only met a couple of ex pats here. Everyone on my street is spanish apart from one couple. You will find a lot of ex pats in los alcozares which isn't too far from here.

Its not really an ex pat area and is extremely quiet out of season ...busy in the summer with many Spanish in their holiday homes.

Maybe look a little bit closer to Los Alcazares or Santiago de la Ribera if you want plentybto do but still a Spanish community.

We have a property in Lo Pagan and although we don`t live there permanently yet we have linked up with a few fellow Buyers...mostly Brits but Belgians too, we are generally like minded and enjoy the area.

As others have mentioned the Los Alcazares is more British oriented so can we suggest you stay in a hotel/rent for a few weeks in each of the areas and get a feel for each place.

We thoroughly enjoy Lo Pagan and take walks to the various beaches and cycle across to the salt flats but appreciate it is very much "each to their own"...

Most of the areas are quiet in Winter....

Enjoy the experience,

Anthony & Katherine

Hi Guys

We are Brits and have been in Lo Pagan for a year (holiday home) It can get quite out of season so to supplement this and get a fix of Britishness we take the ACM coach to Torrevieja for a night out. It’s busy all year round and has plenty of ex-pats knocking about. It’s the best of both worlds for u

Hi,

My husband & I get the keys to our house this week and we are in San Cayetano. We stayed in Lo Pogan twice whilst house hunting and loved it.

The Costa Calida area really does not have massive expat communities, which is why we chose it. I would think possibly the golf resorts may be a better choice if that’s what you want.

Our Spanish is basic but is improving and every Spaniard we have met has smiled at out attempts and we have muddled through.

We have yet to meet new people in our village, but people very easily strike up conversations with us over coffee or a beer.

There is an cinema at Los Narejos which shows English films on Tuesdays and lots of Facebook forums have activities/trips you could join.

La Zenia Boulevard is half an hour, Torrevieja is maybe 40 mins. Cartagena is a stunning city. Benidorm is a couple of hours away for a full on Brit-fix!!

Happy house hunting.

Juls x

There is a thriving community of expats in the San Pedro / Lo Pagan area. For example, check out the ADAPT web site and make contact ...

Lo Pagan is great because of its facilities and Spanish character; there are expats, but not to the exclusion of the Spanish!

I've been here in February. Quite a lot of resturants are open, but not all. Dos Mares shopping mall is open all year round. As for things to do, I'm not sure as I haven't spent much time here during the winter.
