Hi Joan

I agree you don’t want British people coming in the thousands to Spain just like I don’t want thousands coming to my lovely Yorkshire dales! However Spain will collapse without tourism as will areas in the Uk! To maybe put your mind at rest though don’t think there will be many flights to Spain over next few months so hopefully it will be fairly quiet on the beaches (I certainly won’t be coming over and I have had a property there for 12 years)!  Let’s hope in a few months time life will have resembled some normality which I am sure it will!

Tourism in Spain is the third major contributor to national economic life after the industrial and the business/banking sectors, contributing about 10–11% of Spain's GDP. Spain wouldn't collapse without it. It might make a small dent though!

This war against the virus is global but many countries have tackled it better than Britain....it's all about leadership which is unfortunately a very rare thing these days. Too much to ask and hope that the whole world would unite and fight this thing together. Each country has it's so-called science 'experts' (usually on their payroll) all with varying opinions, the sad fact is there are no 'experts'.

Politicians lie, we all know that, but when they lie on camera I really wonder what they have between their ears. Johnson and Hancock have deceived people ever since this out break started in January, it's all on record and dated for anyone to see. We appear to have a PM in name only and he'll never have the qualities required for the post, the most important being leadership. I thought the last two were bad but Johnson, what is he about? Lost without Cummings pulling the strings and writing his scripts, and to cap it all, he announces to the nation that he is proud of his achievements during this crisis. True leaders lead from the front, they don't hide away. Political agendas have no place in this war either.

Everyone will have their own opinion on this and it'll be the talking point for year's to come, I just hope the facts get archived and not re-written. I have no affiliation with any political party before the usual people on here shoot me down. I wish common sense would prevail, but I'm afraid it's not so common these days. Just look at the protests going on around the world at the moment. Thousands in close proximity to each other, just wait for the second wave now. The protests are obviously for good reason, it's a shame they couldn't come up with another method rather than putting us all at risk again.

Like hundreds of others I want to get out to my house in Spain, but we have to be patient a little longer. In the meantime I hope we all manage to avoid this dreadful disease. If we do, I think it will be due to our efforts and discipline rather than Government rules.

The World has the misfortune to have some of the worst leaders possible  at this time in Britain. USA. Brazil Russia. Each individual has to be his or her own leader and help each other through. The politicians are pathetic.

Totally agree.

This is not the time for party politics, particularly with the current band of Tory incompetents using their huge majority to run roughshod over the rest of us, resulting in the state we're in now. We need an Emergency Covid=19 specific CROSS PARTY Committee.

Then for God's sake shut the hell up, I've never heard so much (non political??🤣🤣) drivel in my life than that contained in the last few posts on here. Please tell me the Costa's aren't full this anti Brit leftist stuff. This site would be so much better without it all, not one bit helpful, if anything, it's putting newcomers off. Stand by for the usual remarks from the usual heads!!

The truth hurts but the people won't be shut up. The pathetic leaders have to be questioned.

Exactly Sean.

If you don't agree with Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzacdog you are branded a leftist anti Brit and he tries to be smart with his less than subtle 'digs' and comments.

Kettle, pot and black, in any order, sping to mind. when he tells people to shut up and stop droning on! :)

How can it possibly be "putting newcomers off"? Don't they read their own newspapers then? Whether you like it or not, Politics is life! Everything we do and can do is ruled by what the governments say and the Politics of the country from where we have come or where we currently reside. Life in Spain IS going to change at the end of this year for all those who are not legally registered residents. People who own properties ARE going to be limited to the length of time that they can use them and anyone thinking of moving over to Spain in the future, IS going to find it far more difficult, due to the fact that non-EU citizens have to prove a much higher income and also prove that they have private health-care arranged. It won't be impossible of course but the usual shouters of;  "people have been moving to Spain without any problem for years and nothing's going to change", need to wake up and shut up. You only have to go to government information sites and sites such as Citizens Advice Bureau Spain, who get their information directly from both the British and the Spanish governments and not "from a mate down the pub", to see how many people are panicking about having their dreams to moving to Spain ripped out from under them. So Politics does matter. Politics will be the direct reason that many of those prospective newcomers, won't be able to come to live in Spain after all! Comments that include things such as, "anti-Brit leftist stuff" indicate your own political right-wing leanings and of course, they are the ones who will be responsible for the heartbreak of so many people!

And pointing out the Governments tardy reaction to a pandemic which has claimed over 50’000 British lives despite having had 3 weeks warning by what happened in Italy is hardly leftist. This virus doesn’t distinguish between left and right!!!
