state pension
DWP pays state pension into Spanish account every 4 weeks, but the first payment is for 3 weeks, they say because in UK is paid in advance, abroad is paid in arrears. Anyone else had this experience ?

It all works out OK in the end.

This is what DWP told me, but I know state pension have always been paid in arrears in UK, not in advance as DWP claims.
This means I lost one week pay. Was your first payment also for 3 weeks ?

It depends on the day that your actual pension begins to be paid. You should have received a letter from the pension office telling what you would receive and from what date. You can work it out from there.

The reason they gave for first payment being for 3 weeks (instead of 4 weeks) was that they claim in UK it's paid in advance, but abroad paid in arrears, therefore it is an adjustment for first pay abroad. However I know this isn't true as state pension has always been paid in arrears in UK. Correct ?

Who is telling you this or the UK department of works and pensions?
The bank will on show what is deposited with them.
If this is your first payment do as Mags had said and wait and see.
Remember this cannot be the banks fault.

I didn't say it's bank's fault. I received first payment into my Spanish account many months ago which was for 3 weeks instead of 4 weeks. DWP say it is an adjustment because in UK was paid in advance, but abroad is paid in arrears. But I know in UK is also paid in arrears. Was your first payment in Spain also for 3 weeks ?

Are you really stressing about one week’s pension from months ago?

Not stressing, but want to know if anyone else had their first payment for 3 weeks, and why DWP tells me that in UK is paid in advance which is not true.
