Have bought a smart tv for top floor bedroom but cannot extend wifi up there. Is there anyone who could run an ethernet cable through the built-in trunking to connect to the router on the ground floor, and fit socket to third floor?

Still looking for best solution for uk tv if and when there is optical fibre broadband in our area.

Hi

Have you thought of a wifi booster just plugs in to an electric socket.

We use one in our place in Murcia city where we have fibre but still not strong enough to give us a good enough signal for streaming in an outside extension.

Plenty of store sell them but wort buying a good quality.

I have the TP-Link set, which worked fine for years in our previous home, but try as I might I cannot get them to pair up here, so reckon that hard-wired ethernet is the way to go, but thanks for the suggestion.

Just a thought. When we moved to a new apartment my wifi mains network would not pair up either. Thinking they were dud I nearly threw them out.

One year later I noticed our led lights were glowing slightly after they were turned off at night.

Seems we had a live earth! The fault was not in the house but in the community box.

When the electrical company had finally fixed, guess what - the mains network adapters worked immediately, no set up required.

Just a thought!

Glad I never binned them.

I have three Netgear mains ethernet adapters that I brought over from the UK.

They work just fine.

Two of my security cameras are running on them. The third is the host plugged into the router.

Easiest solution for adding devices, aside from Wifi WPS buttons that is.

As I cannot get powerline units to pair up (usual wierd Spanish house wiring I think!) I have been looking at the wireless types. These vary in price and if anyone has any experience of them I would love to hear about it.

Cracked it! Bought a wireless extender tp-link re350 from amazon....plugged in near router, press wps button on router, wait two minutes and it paired up. Relocated it to socket on first floor and ‘bingo!’ have 6mg download on top floor. A €50 fix.
