Chris, automatic cars are as rare as rocking horse ****. Your best bet for a quick result is to have a look at Global Car Sales as they usually have a few UK cars which are automatic. Some manufacturers like Kia, will not import any automatics to Spain. Others only import selected models so this creates a shortage. The cheapest option is to buy a car in the UK and drive it over and put it on spanish plates. A friend recently bought a 2004 Mercedes in the UK and including driving over and importation charges it cost less than half what it would cost to buy here. Failing that settle for a manual, there are plenty to choose from but you will need a gestor to act for you in the purchase if you buy privately otherwise you could find numerous costs attached to the vehicle such as unpaid road tax often going back many years, fines for traffic offences which if they have not been paid the costs go up rapidly. One that I looked at had an unpaid €70 speeding fine that had never been paid and they wanted €1000 to clear it. The gestor will also go and pay all the charges and taxes you will incur through buying it so it is well worth paying the gestors fees, typically €500. If you buy from a reputable dealer they will normally include all these costs in the price.
