Wow, that sounds just like how the UK process for those people who have been trying to get their settled status done and failing because of the bureaucracy, is! As Roberto says, this is not a new process. It's been around for yonks and didn't affect UK citizens whilst they were part of the club. ...

...They left, they now have to follow the procedures for third country citizens! Why are so many people on this forum so deep in denial. With the comments on threads being so negative, I wonder why any of the "ex-pat" posters even want to live in Spain!

It's nowt to do with expat not in the loop ie in the EU it's the system ?don't you get it ?the system is F beaurocratic wasteful not good for the environment too many people say on their ass etc etc.Its the process it's outdated crap that's all I'm saying now do you get it.?

You go on about its 26 countries doing the same thing?and the UK not being in it to change it.Well that bit of info makes it 26 times worse for the already wasteful process.I would love to be in charge of stationary procurement for that lot?not.Honestly it's an environmental disaster and so unnessasary. Here you go my friend seen as your quoting this that and the other QHow much stationary is used to process those wanting to stay in all 26 EU countries each year?.Dont even think I'm an eco friendly planet loving freak coz I'm not far from it I'm an ordinary person but it does anger me when blatantly a simple process can be done in such a way with so many people involved so much paperwork so much travelling and so much everything is used.I wouldn't like to be in a company with half of you if that's the way your looking at this way of running 26 countries.

Actually, no. It's merely your opinion!

Gaza,

You say its a bureaucratic /wasteful system, and can be done better. That may be so

So can you detail which information is not needed for the initial Visa application for Residencia and then the in Spain TIE application?

Pictures of the person?,

Health and police reports?

Own country documentation?

Financial records?  Assets/income

Verified/Habitation location in Spain, (Padron) for TIE card?

Which bits are not needed, to prevent the traditional free-loading rorts?

It’s your opinion that all of the paperwork is unnecessary.....I hear that and imagine lots of people see the merit in your argument.......however for anyone wanting to move to live in any EU country in the foreseeable future the paperwork is an absolute necessity....and I don’t think all of the letter writing (rain forest trees 🤔) to MP’s will make a jot of difference...

It may change in time but until it does there’s nothing else for it but to enjoy being able to wear shorts and flip flops, eating tapas and drinking Tinto de Verano......🍷😎
