We just spent a week in LA and was quite surprised at the lack of anything going on.  Maybe we came out of season, but that was the point to see what was going on in winter and talk to ex pats etc.   We literally saw no one apart from a few people popping in and out of the Tipsy Thistle.  This has left us a little disheartened and might need to look further north around Pilar De Horodada as seen on Channel 5.

If I were you I’d look at Cabo Roig / La Zenia / Villa Martin. These areas are definitely livelier and have the advantage of being on the Med for swimming.

If you’re talking about the 525 square it’s only busy in the summer months.  Even then there are no live bands etc.  LA is the largest town on the Costa Calida so it’s unlikely to be any different in any other area along this coast.

It’s a very quiet area, which of course, some people prefer.

We went round La Zenia, Villa Martin, Cabo Roig and also Ciudad Qusada which all have a very different feel to them.  Cabo Roig was amazing, especially the coastal walk.  We only spent about an hour in each so was difficult to judge.

The Celt Bar is also shut down now in LA so hopefully the area picks up soon.  The old town is getting some money spent on it at last as well

I would suggest renting where possible to get a feel for the areas.  Moving is very expensive in Spain so you want to get it right first time.

Totally agree.

The area is quite desolate in the winter months, but yes it’s nice to have that contrast in my opinion, activities/ Restaurants are quite spread out apart from the Square/ Hotel 525 area, of which in winter is very quiet but increases  10 fold in summer.

Must say that the locals in the area are very friendly, love supporting the local restaurants.

I would say Villamartin area sounds more your cup of tea to be honest.

But do your exploring  and don’t rush into anything.

Depending on what you want a car is highly recommended

Good luck

Thank you for the reply that's great news me and my husband are 40 no children and enjoy active social life eating drinking live music entertainment etc do you think this area offers that too? We originally based our search around costa Blanca and visited many areas but couldn't find the right pl...

...ace so we are heading into costa calida as looks stunning and from research only looks much more affordable in this area even on the coast line. Many thanks Christina

I suggest - Try looking in Roda Golf.   Nice resort  and groups to join .

Remember we are still in Covid  so nothing is normal or as was.  Even in the UK things are still shut,   gone for good ,  people moved to the country side.  Spain is  no different.

There is a lovely Square call 525  in the Town and a lot of Ex-Pats enjoy dining, drinking ip meeting up etc.   There is also a small village very close by in Roda and a couple bars .  Social clubs are active in Roda Golf.  Why not book a few days staying there to get a feel for the place. Please feel free to send me a private message. If you wish for any more information .

We love it here in San Pedro del Pinatar but, tbh we both find it a bit dead in the off season. Many places closed and not much going on unless you move up the coast to Torrevieja but that's not fir everyone. If you're only in your 40's  my opinion is that it's too quiet in the winter months. We're much older and if we find it quiet I think you definitely would.

To be fair,  we are only in this part of Spain 2 years and with Covid we didn't get out to find places like we would if things were normal but I'm sure others will  be able to correct me if I h the wrong impression.

Our son and his partner spent Xmas here on their own and said they would only come back when the season gets going. We don't live here full time but we do spend more time here than at home. Next we we have decided to stay at home from Dec  until March, at least everything is open even if the weather is vile.

I hope you find your dream location.
