Hi

We are looking to buy a holiday home to use throughout the year

We will not have a car

So best areas near amenities but still walkable to the beach

Any parts to avoid e.g. too quiet in the winter months ( bars restaurants close up)

We will obviously stay in the area before we buy

But as we do not know anything about the area any information would be appreciated.

Thank you

I've just bought  in Los Narejos, very quiet in the winter, but then everywhere seems quiet in winter in Los Alcazares.  You can find bars and restaurants, you just have to accept many are closed.  On the plus side, you can easily get a table on the winter!

We bought last year and go every 4-6 weeks. Love it. As long as you are prepared to walk there is plenty going on all year round. We’re back out in April if you’d like to meet DM me. We happy to share our experience.

We bought in Los Narejos 8 years ago and still love to come mainly through the winter months. There are more than enough cafes, bars and restaurants open within walking distance but cycling is a great way to get around as it's so flat.!

Just be careful when you buy to get the right orientation for your needs. If, like us you just come for the winter, I suggest you don't buy North facing. The properties here are not built for warmth...!

Good luck with your search but feel free to PM me if you want more info

If you look on the map while searching properties you can see how close/far you are from the supermarkets, especially if you don't have a car. Los Narejos area was nest for me, Aldi, Mercadona and Lidl all withing a few minutes walk.

Hi Jo,

I have an apartment in Los Alcazares, it's a lovely area, near the beach, restaurants, bars etc, lots of sports including golf, tennis and padel tennis.

Everything is within walking distance and there are buses to Cartagena, Murcia, Torrevieja and Alicante. I love it there!

If you wanted to visit I would be happy to show you around the town, I would be happy to arrange accommodation in my complex as I know a few people who rent there...

I am travelling back to Spain 4 weeks today for 3 months...

I am selling our town house (Duplex) in Los Alcázares and it faces N/E so less sun in the winter but great shade in the roasting months of the summer!  Most Spanish would rather have the shade.  However, If you are interested, just have a look at the photos - will be there in April.  It's in a great location for a short walk to the beach and 525 'Square'

Regards, George

You may not need a price - giving the photos and exact location, plus timetable when the house is empty - all on a public group could mean it is occupied by squatters before you can see it. Unwise?

We bought a brand new apartment in LA / Roda last year and we love it. So much to do in the summer and the town is nice and lively (family orientated lively) in the summer. Everything in walking distance. Winter much quieter, we came at Christmas and a big difference. But warm in the day, cold at night but that’s to be expected. we come every 6 -8 weeks.
