Me too Steve, been 3months weeding 5k+mtrs land (dont want land turned as weeds just keep coming back and take years to decompose(90% rosemary bushes) and been bitten to death,(almost). Spanish farmers dont seperate them for burning later, just turn land over. Havent even found a good repellant to keep them away incl citronella and peppermint oils added to sunlotions, aftersuns etc.so will watch this for recommendations. Cant keep affording a deet spray, only lasts for 2 days use.
Regards
Pauline.

Literally "Noseeums" like Crissywissy says. Lived with them in Florida, US for 30 +yrs. Worst some years more than others. AVON Skin So Soft does a great job if you can put up with the strong perfume.

I wish I could say mosquitoes were tiny, the smallest is clearly visible with long legs. This year we have had quite a few Tiger mosquitoes and they are the size of a euro coin. The very small flies are fruit flies, the black flies are the ones people complain about, they are the size of a house fly.

I did try the Avon oil, but had a nightmare using it in the sun while gardening as it caused my skin to overheat and ended up with severe prickly heat as well as bites. Advise use of Skin So Soft for evening time only unless you have the type of skin you can use baby oil sunbathing in the sun.

Hi Steve, no idea what is 'biting you' but just thought I'd share a little info.....
A mozzie injects you with anaesthetic and sucks blood, so you don't feel it until afterwards. Midges actually bite a little hole in the skin and suck the blood out. And you do feel a little sharp pinprick of pain!
Mozzies are small, elongated thin little buggers that make the most insane-inducing zzzzzzzzing noise.
Midges look like small black flies and don't make a noise - just try to eat you alive.
Which ever it is - go straight into kill mode....swat, swat, swat.

Not sure if it would have the same effect as Skin so Soft, but heard that Johnson’s Extra Creamy Baby Oil works to deter bites. Only problem is I can’t, so far, find anywhere that sells it....
