42 is the answer to life, the universe and everything! Sorry. Did wonder how many Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy fans would be on here.

I think, after indepth reading & discussions with Smartyfartblast, the answer is actually, 42.000000000001

But I'm keeping that a secret so don't tell anyone.

I used to get bad mosquito bites travelling around Asia. Usually after it rained they would bite my heels. Stay clear from stagnat water. Empty neighbours pools etc will become a breeding ground.  The best thing after a bite is white tiger balm. Rub it over the bite for a few mins  and the poison will ooze out and the itching stops.

Me too Steve, been 3months weeding 5k+mtrs land (dont want land turned as weeds just keep coming back and take years to decompose(90% rosemary bushes) and been bitten to death,(almost). Spanish farmers dont seperate them for burning later, just turn land over. Havent even found a good repellant t...

...o keep them away incl citronella and peppermint oils added to sunlotions, aftersuns etc.so will watch this for recommendations. Cant keep affording a deet spray, only lasts for 2 days use.

Regards

Pauline.

EUREEKAAAA.   Wonder if anyone else willing to try this and see if it really does work.

Will give you the gist.

Sat out on covered balcony.  Hubby says **** just been bitten  ***$%$"...  Within 2 minutes he had 5 more.  More or less in same area on leg.   Now here's where the eureeka comes in.   Me thinks because whenever you get bitten all the next bites seem to be around same area or even in same place.  It's as if when they bite they leave a pheramone or some chemical signal with the message:  Get Yer Free Grub Here  :   So I goes and gets the factor 50, 8 hr, suncream.  It leaves an invisible coating on the top of the skin.  Just maybe it will mask any chemical factors and maybe the little buggers won't like the taste.........  We kept watch and sure enough a midge came across, flew up and down with a puzzled look on it's nasty little face (OK that's not true but give me some poetic licence here folk) and flew off.  Not one single bite since .............   I guess any Factor 50 Suncream will do.   Anyone willing to do 1 arm and 1 leg or both arms and leggies and lets all see if we have found the solution?

No idea.  Lets experiment.  But sure we are on the right path because Chris hasn;t suffered any more bites!  Maybe the factor 50 is better cos it sits on top of the skin rather than absorb, creating a barrier.  Perhaps vasiline would work too.   But keep us posted.

I can't help with the repellant, tried most things with no success.

Definitely the best aftercare a small blob of hydrocortisone rubbed well in. Instant relief.

Very cheap from the chemist.
