Alcázares is on the Mar Menor which is not very good for swimming if you read the reports . You need to be on the Med for swimming in clear waters .

Hi,  I find the Mar Menor much warmer and calmer than the Med.  It is safer and also very good for swimming.  We have an apartment in Santiago de la Ribera and the beaches and swimming are fantastic.

Hi

Ive just been reading your tips, would you recommend this area for a family, La Ribera? My family want to rent out our Uk home and rent there for 12/18 months get a feel for the area before committing. I have a 5 yr old son and 2 dogs, my partner works away 6 weeks at time all over the world so needs to be a safe envi.

any advice welcome

Regards

Fran

Ribera or Los Alcazares should be fine.....you relly need a car if you want to get around but plenty to do in either place if you join in with the local community. Learn some Spanish and look at schools in the area...Las Claras school in Los Alcazares is very popuar and your little boy will quickly become bilingual. Lots of social groups you can join but you need to find a reliable sitter too...plenty of those around in expat community too....anything else just ask!
