Many thanks.  All our documents were prepared by our lawyer so had all they needed.  After queueing from 0630 we managed to get a ticket.  Had to return at 1000 but found ourselves in a long queue and finally got in at 1130.  Our documentation must have been OK as after paying...

... our €2 and handing over our documents they asked us to go back next week to collect the certificate...we were lucky there was a Dutch National next to us who translated what the lady in the Padron office was saying as she did not speak any English and we are just starting out on that journey to learn Spanish.  The only downside is that there is no automatic appointment to pick up the Padron certificate and we have to queue up again at the crack of dawn to get a ticket so not looking forward to that but we will just jump through the hoops as we want to get things sorted before the big B date.

To round up this conversation.  We finally got our Padron yesterday but not without a performance!  We had to go back several times and queue up at the crack of dawn to secure a ticket.  We went on the off chance that they would let us in to pick up the certificate a few times when there was no queue outside but were not allowed to because we did not have a ticket.  When we got into the main hall we had to pay a further €6 (€3 for each of the Padron certificates) at the machine and then queue up at the Padron window for the certificate.  The lady had to spend around 15 minutes playing about on the computer and took our passports again to photocopy and we were handed our certificates with a satisfying “todo completado” from the lady issuing it.

thank goodness 😅 it is all over now.  It has been quite an experience and an ordeal which I understand from friends in the Valencia district they don’t face as appointments are done all line and you can get your Padron on the day of the appointment.  Seems to be Murcia thing but we may have just been unlucky!

Good luck if you are also applying for a Padron at Los Alcazares.

Sorry to hear that you had the same problem as we did but at least you're all done now. We thought that our ordeal was over now too but it turns out that the certificado de empadronamiento that we queued up for and eventually received on Tuesday, isn't any good for the importing of our personal items from the Canary Islands and we will need to to it all again tomorrow morning to request a special certificate for this. The nightmare continues.........
