Yes it comes out of your account automatically each year if you have a direct debit set up. Each area of Spain has a different payment date for property Suma. You could ask your bank when that is and when you have paid the first one you will know when it will be for the following years.

How do I register with Suma to pay basura and property taxes? I want to set up an installment plan for 2017 for my Los Alcazares apartment. My abogado charges me a lot each year and I want to do this myself.

You could pop into your local Suma office, if you can find it, or go into your Spanish bank and ask in there if they can get it set up for you or tell you what to do.

You could also ask in your town hall as they may have a Suma department there.

Thank you very much for your reply. The problem is that I am in Spain only until 10 November as I have to return to England until next summer. I have been to the local suma office of Alicante where I am at present and they couldn't help and nor could the bank. I wondered if they have a web site as the Alicante Suma offices do.
